A journalist in the nation of Georgia has shared details about the journey to find her birth parents, including the surprise that she had already been Facebook friends with her birth father for three years.

Tamuna Museridze first realized she was adopted in 2016 when she found a birth certificate with her name, but a different date of birth. The woman who had been raising her had recently died, and Museridze began the search for her biological family. She set up a Facebook page dedicated to the search, and that was where she received a message from a woman who ended up being her first cousin.

The woman shared that her aunt had given birth in 1984 but had concealed the pregnancy and the birth. A DNA test confirmed that this woman was indeed Museridze’s first cousin, and therefore, the aunt was Museridze’s birth mother. However, the birth mother wasn’t interested in a mother/daughter reunion, as Museridze learned when she called her.

“She was screaming, shouting – she said she hadn’t given birth to a child. She didn’t want anything to do with me. I was ready for anything, but her reaction was beyond anything I could imagine,” Museridze told the BBC.

About a week later, her birth mother gave her the name of her birth father: Gurgen Khorava.

“I couldn’t believe these things were happening to me. I couldn’t believe I had found them,” Museridze said.

She turned to Facebook to begin her search for her father, and quickly realized he had been following her story via the Facebook page she had set up to find her biological parents.

“[He had] been in my friend list for three years,” she explained. “He didn’t even know my birth mother had been pregnant. It was a huge surprise for him.”

Father and daughter arranged a meeting, and soon Museridze was meeting her half-siblings and cousins. “Out of all his children, I look the most like my father,” she said.

In addition to finding her birth family, Museridze also exposed a widespread baby trafficking scandal in Georgia. Over decades, parents were told their newborns had died, but they had actually been sold. It made Museridze wonder if she had been stolen as well. Eventually, her birth mother told her that she had been ashamed to be pregnant and unmarried, so she had traveled to give birth, and hid her daughter’s existence from everyone.

Incredibly, through her Facebook group, Muzeridze helped other children find their families, reuniting them with the parents from whom they had been stolen at birth.

(NORTHERN ONTARIO NEWS) – A man was severely injured Tuesday morning when he leaped onto a polar bear to protect his wife from being mauled in the Far North community of Fort Severn. A neighbor showed up soon after and shot the bear, which then retreated to the woods.

A spokesperson for the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service said the man is recovering from severe injuries to his arm and legs and is expected to make a full recovery.

The attack took place in the early morning in the community, which is on the coast of Hudson Bay. Police were dispatched when they received reports of gunshots.

HIALEAH, Florida – After flipping by double digits in the 2024 election the former Democrat stronghold of Miami-Dade County, President-elect Donald Trump is now being honored by local officials with a street named for him.

Palm Avenue, a main thoroughfare in the Cuban-packed city of Hialeah, is now President Donald J. Trump Avenue.

The approval vote Tuesday from the county commission was 9 to 1, and Democrats could have blocked the measure as they hold seven of the 10 seats.

Trump had personally signed one of the street signs when attending a memorial service in Florida.

“Miami-Dade County strongly supported President Trump during the election, and this designation serves as a lasting tribute to his leadership and vision for our nation,” Miami-Dade County Commissioner Kevin Marino Cabrera said on X.

Commissioner Marleine Bastien, a Haitian-American who represents northern Miami, was the sole vote against Trump Avenue.

“I respect the fact that President Trump won the popular vote, the Electoral College and Miami-Dade County,” Bastien said, according to the Miami Herald.

“However, his victory does not erase the collective trauma that immigrants and citizens alike felt during this election cycle.”

She specifically pointed to “falsehoods about Haitians eating cats and dogs in Ohio” and “derogatory comments about Haiti, Mexico, and some African countries in the past.”

In both the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections, Trump lost Miami-Dade County to Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, respectively.

“I want to thank the commissioners that supported this item, as well as the City Council of Hialeah who had endorsed this effort from the moment President Trump visited Hialeah,” Hialeah Mayor Esteban Bovo said.

(OUTKICK) – Social media will soon be banned in Australia for kids under the age of 16 after the bill passed the Australian Senate on Thursday. In what will be a world-first law, platforms including Instagram, X, Reddit, TikTok, Facebook, and Snapchat will be liable for fines of up to 50 million Australian dollars ($33 million) for systemic failures to prevent children younger than 16 from holding accounts.

According to the Associated Press, Australia’s House of Representatives has yet to endorse opposition amendments made in the Senate, but that is nothing but a formality given that the Australian government has agreed they will pass. Once passed, social media platforms will have one year to work out how they can implement the ban before penalties are enforced.

Critics of the legislation believe that the ban on social media could isolate children who use the platforms for support.

An Episcopal priest who is now a three-day champion on “Jeopardy!” is raising eyebrows after being unable to answer two famous clues from the Holy Bible on Wednesday night’s broadcast.

Kevin Laskowski of Falls Church, Virginia, who is priest-in-charge at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Centreville, Virginia, was among the contestants dealing with the category “Quoting the King James Bible.”

To his credit, Laskowski was able to answer “And the light shineth in” this, which “comprehended it not.”

“What is the darkness?” he correctly responded.

Another clue stated: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green” these.

“What is green pastures?” he answered rightly.

But then came a pair of clues to which the reverend was completely silent.

“Why beholdest thou” this 4-letter thing “that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?”

The correct response to the triple-stumper was “the mote.”

And the final, $1,000 clue also left all three contestants unable to voice anything.

“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils” this phrase.

The correct response is “the breath of life.”

It was answered correctly with “the Sabbath;” not by the priest, but by challenger Julia Schan, a stay-at-home mom from Pleasanton, California.

Laskowski was able to answer the alcohol-related Final Jeopardy clue: “Its 15 official state songs include 2 that mention moonshine & 3 played in 3/4 time.”

(USA TODAY) — A Walmart employee who was called to work on her day off left a millionaire after buying a lottery ticket from a California Lottery machine.

The woman, Rebeca Gonzalez, works at a Los Angeles County Walmart and got a last-minute call to come in. Admittedly, she wasn’t looking forward to it, the California Lottery announced in a news release Tuesday.

“It was Labor Day and they only needed me for three hours,” Gonzalez told the lottery. “I wanted to obviously be home with my family because we planned to barbecue.”

His “deplorable” reference is to a statement from failed 2016 Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton who dismissed some half of the nation, the conservative half, for their political and religious beliefs. She called them all “deplorables.”

Joe Biden, during the 2024 race, called that same, now-majority, of Americans, “garbage.”

Commenters on social media described Kennedy as a “national treasure.”
